Word Walls
By Melissa Smith

Clip to ScrapBook
This is my first year teaching at all...but I plan on using a word wall. I have a country theme in my classroom and it just so happens that the 4-block 3rd-grade word wall has overalls and t-shirts for the alphabet! I plan
on using the month-by-month phonics as well. How I have my word wall set up is this: I have magnetic chalk boards and have put the alphabet up above the one on my side wall. I am laminating my words and putting magnets on the back. I will have the option of moving the words for chaldboard use...and the kids can do an activity of putting the words back up in the correct places. There is
also an activity of sorting the word wall words...suffixes, homonyms, etc. I purchased the overall pocket chart and have this hanging by my word wall for the kids to sort the words into. I will also display words that go along with our other studies as well...Social studies, science, math. Hope this helps you! Good luck.
