Another thought would be stackable tubs -- even if they dont have lids, the books can just stay in 'em and you stack 'em. I have some that are mini-crates and they stack side to side with little tabs and top to bottom. I don't know if you can find something like this that would fit your books. My mini crates don't fit all books -- just small chapter book size ones. One more thought -- is there something you can put your dishpans in? Like five dishpans per rubbermaid tub with a lid? I got some great deals on those HUGE ones last summer at staples. They were flourescent orange, lime green and magenta.... but CHEAP-- 4 huge tubs for $10 (I kept playground balls in one, all our tissues for the year in another, knitting club supplies in a third, etc) Maybe just stick the pans full of books in there...then pull 'em out again. At least the books would still be organized so that part of the process would be minimized?
