Preparing for the next year

Believe it or not, we're still in "this year' until Friday. However, when I finally do get out :D , I am planning on reading the professional book Mentor Texts so I can integrate the books I suggest with my Lucy Calkins writing program. I am also planning on organizing take-home reading projects that the kids can do throughout the year, and I would like to start the day with a better morning meeting than I do. Unfortunately, we have no contract, and our union is starting job actions, so my time in school this summer will be slim to none. I have to confine myself to things I can do at home for the time being.
