Centers By Charmaine

I really try to avoid generating extra paperwork during centers. I like to use self-checking activities such as geo-globe, geo-safari, and math safari. (Educational) Games are great, too. You can use store-bought or homemade games. Commercial games like flash cards, math dominoes, etc. are great, and save time. If you don't have these resources at your school you can make your own games (get a parent helper!). Ideas can be found in your teacher's editions as well as other teacher resources. Games allow students to practice skills with enjoyment and don't create more papers for you to grade!! | | I also use a writing center, listening center, and computer center (not all at once, I rotate through these). Another great source for centers are activities from any given unit that you just don't have time to do as a regular lesson. The students get reinforcement/review of that concept, and you don't have to skip that great activity!Hope these ideas are helpful.
