each time I get a letter, the student who nominated me is mentioned on the letter. I fill in the info and return the form. I have never purchased the books/certificates/plaques, etc. The first time was about 5 years ago then again last year and this year. Each time my former students were so happy to "repay" me in the form of this recognition.
