Goodbye
By NJ Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I can totally relate to you. A couple of years ago, I had a hideous boy in my class. His parents were teachers, and I found they talked a good game, and there was absolutely no follow through that I could see. He was fresh,
belligerent to other students, invaded their personal space, and was very disruptive across the board, including specials. He was classified, and for some reason, they de-classified him for math, so I had him the bulk of the day. He was also rarely absent, probably due to his parents being teachers. I didn't realize how much he had affected me until the summer came, and the next year
started, and I had so much more energy and enjoyed teaching again. This year, he's in the middle, school and our music teacher told me that his sixth grade music teacher was having terrible problems with him also. It validated what had happened to us. An independent psychologist observed him the classroom, and recommended a trial of medication, and the parents refused. She also saw the things we were seeing, so I knew it wasn't just me. Have a great summer, and I hope your next teaching year is a great one!:s)
