The other one attended our church. No one was allowed to discipline her children (when they were in Sunday School). I mean letting them know they can't take off from class and hang out in the bathroom, dancing on tables, screaming, playing with the band's sound equipment. I don't mean yelling at them or putting them in timeout, I mean just saying "We can't touch that equipment." The other family was the same way. If one of her sons threw a toy, we couldn't ask him not to throw toys. These incidents were when the parent wasn't around. Of course if their parent was there we would have allowed the parent to say something. Both families have put their kids in public school but when the school wouldn't follow their rules of what books their children could read, (No Magic Schoolbus because it is magic), topics that could be studied, (No science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales....) they pulled them out. I just want the family to have a positive experience in public school. I was asking for advice on how others have helped homeschooling families transition to public schooling. I know that each situation is different. For those who posted about positive experiences, thank you.
