Need advice from experienced teachers....

I could really use the advice of some seasoned teachers :)

The director of education contacted me last week and asked which of two positions I'd prefer. I told him and he said "I'll put you down for that. Please
keep this confidential for now, as I still have to call principals. Personnel will call you in the next day or two."

People at the school I chose kept asking me if I heard back (other applicants had already), and I kept saying they were finalizing things. I even told the principal I didn't know (just in case). Several days went by and personnel hadn't called. I asked anoter teacher
(who knew that I had received the job from people on the interview committee), if I should call the director of education back. She was very adamant and said I'd be going over the principal's head (I didn't think I would be, as I was asked not to say anything to anyone). She also said not to cross the director and that the director was too high for me to contact directly.

So my question is, who should I contact and when? It has been over a week, and I just turned down a third round interview at another school. I really want to make sure things are set! My options are:

1. Director of education - This seems most appropriate to me, but the comments about him being too high for me to contact scare me. It could also potentially make personnel look bad.

2. Personnel - I could just say that I know he was going to be calling me, but that I have an updated transcript and should I drop it off. My fear is that I could be "crossing" the director, by contacting the HR person instead of the opposite

3. The principal at the school - I could just casually ask if he has received any updates.

4. Do nothing - and wait. If you think this is the best option. How long would you wait?

Thanks for any advice you have!
