Clip to ScrapBook
I have just finished the NB process this year as well, and I am waiting on my results. I actually took my assessment back in late March because I was expecting my first baby in early May. :)

My certification area
was the same as yours. Lisa has given you some great tips to get started. If it makes you feel better, I completed the entire process in 5 months...from November to March. ;) I got started so late due to waiting on results from a grant through my state. (If I wouldn't have gotten the grant, I wasn't going to go through the NB process last year.)

Here are a couple tips...

Read
through all the standards and portfolio requirements before you get started. This will give you an overall picture of the portfolio.
Read through the entire instructions for each portfolio entry before you start working on the entry.
Go ahead and start working on entry 4 for your portfolio now. This is your accomplishments, professional development, etc. You can go ahead and start gathering documentation and writing a good bit of your entry over the summer.
Don't worry about the assessment part yet...you have until next June to take it. Finish your portfolio first. Then, you can study for the assessment. Good luck! Feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions!
