Der Apfel faellt nicht weit von Stamm (long)
By josephineg

Clip to ScrapBook
The apple doesn't fall fall far from the tree. Could she be admired for:

* her willingness to form assessments and judgements
* her willingness to direct and manage
* her willingness to focus single-mindedly
on a goal or result
* her willingness to provide a contrasting viewpoint
* her zeal in not being satisfied until she has the very best
* her initiative in applying her acute and keen observation skills
* her efforts and desire to please her mom
* allowing herself to begin to unfold as the unique person she is

Her mom sounds inconsolable and unable to be
pleased. What a burden. Apparently the child must imitate the mom even to be seen, much less acknowledged. (At the risk of rubbing salt into a wound, I assume that the child is in a class in which she is with her mental rather than chronological peers.) The child of an inconsolable mom has a huge burden to carry. I'm sure that any kind words from you will be deeply appreciated by the child, who seems to live in a world of judgement. Yup, sounds like a family systems issue that has been going on all year. I imagine the child could use some counseling and a referral from you for that.

You're not a bad teacher. You're human. So-called extremes are manifestations of the divine human nature, just as the typical are. All the flowers in the garden are beautiful; the rose is not better than the violet. Each has its unique quality, all its own. I hear you say that are feeling terrible in this new situation, which could be an opportunity for you. May I suggest you be with the feelings of sadness that you have and allow yourself to be present to them. Allow youself to be compassionate with yourself as you are present to your feelings. Something may emerge and shift for you.

All the best.
