I have done this every year
By Mr. K

Clip to ScrapBook
I love Flat Stanley. I read the book and have the students make their Stanley's on the first day of school...a great hook. During the rest of the week, students draft, revise, and write their letters. (each student sends only one Stanley and letter)

While we wait for the returns, we color in a map of places sent to, find latitude and longitude, state caps, state symbols, etc.

As the Stanleys return with letters, photos, T shirts, post cards, etc...each student shares and then we post them in the hall for all to see. I leave it up all year and it is a focal point...there is always someone standing there reading the adventures.
