You could have the students cut and color frogs and stick their pictures on them. And put them on the board. Bottle Biology -- study the ecosystem of pond water using coke bottles. Venn diagrams -- toads vs. frogs Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel makes me think of Lily pads cut from green felt or green vinyl. Monet prints of his pond and lily pads for artwork You could also use that indoor/outdoor grass carpeting thing I am doing. Cattails decorating the room. OH! I have a frog made from a wooden kitchen spoon painted green with a popcicle stick glued on for arms. (There are wooden buttons for eyes and ladybugs drawn on.) A BIG spoon would make a great pointer. Fishing poles. You could "fish" students names (via magnets and paperclips) out of the "pond" to decide who would be leader, helper, etc. The stuffed frog (Kermit) could hold the name for the week. What about a take-off on Animal Planet's Steve Irwin? You could be TAD POLE HUNTER! Looking for young tadpoles. You could wear a khaki shirt and safari or ranger hat but have on waders and a net for scooping frogs (students). You could use metal pails like your idea for the picnic baskets.
Isn't there a song "Froggie went a courtin?" Of course there is Kermit the frog -- he could be a class mascot. Of better yet, you could keep a real frog or toad in the classroom. Fish stores have white frog that live in an aquarium that gets huge. You could also use several of the outdoorsie ideas you cave me. Thanks for helping me. I hope this helps you.
