lesson

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm not in 2nd grade, but I think your lesson might move too slowly to keep their attention. I suggest you start with the book and move into predictions. (I have a book suggestion for you that might work.....its called "Some Smug Slug") Doing it that way may make more sense to them, and it will introduce your main idea of predicting, using clues. Its not about tricking them but about discovering something together.

I feel if you say "oh I forgot to mention...." it will sound disorganized to the observers and the children. I would likely bring out the note or clues after a just a few early predictions, and discuss how that clue or note affects the predictions. Then I'd have them draw their predictions and write about why they thought of it.
