... and yet we still don't do "enough"
By Risa

Clip to ScrapBook
I just did my taxes last week. Like you, MsPropel, I had to gather all my receipts and track down all my cancelled checks. In my haste to just get the job done whenever I bought things for my class or my students, I know
I didn't save all my receipts... Regardless, after totaling the list, it came to $1,409!!!

We spend great amounts of our paychecks, give up countless hours of our own time before, during and after school, yet 'the public' still complains that teachers don't do enough!

I wish I could say this is the most I've ever spent, but in the poor community where I work, I've finally
begun to ask parents to provide the most essential of school supplies. Some do, but most, as might be guessed, don't. This makes it very hard to assign home projects, because then I end up begrudingly having to supply the materials. Arrrghhh!!

I'd better stop before I really start spewing venomous fumes!
