We do it.

Clip to ScrapBook
It works really well; the parents and kids are into it. It's not just the school telling the parents what to do; it's an invitation for families to take some time out to slow down and enjoy each others' company. :D We have
had activities at our school in the evenings that families are invited to attend instead of just sitting home and watching TV.

We have had Bingo night (always jam packed) and a game night, where families all bring board games to play together. We'd planned an early evening walk on the trails at a park that's part of our school's back yard. The walk would end with a gathering around
the fire at the huge firepit to make S'mores, but both years this was planned, it got rained out! (Our school district has teachers who work at nature center buildings at the park where classes from our district go for outdoor education programs! In other words, we're not just sending them out into the unknown! ;) )

We've also had a magician night, a wear your PJs and come listen to a storyteller night, fine arts night, and a spaghetti dinner night.

Hope yours goes well if you're able to do it!
