Pencil or pencil sharpener problem
By lynn

Clip to ScrapBook
I have always loved the Ticonderoga pencils, but I am having the worse luck with them this year. When I sharpen them with the electric sharpener they look great, but when you try to write with them the tip breaks and falls
out. It is almost as if the lead down in the pencils is broke. Thinking it was the pencil sharpener we tried a different electric sharpener and even a manual sharpener and we still have issues. Not to mention sharpening pencils by hand wears you out. Most of my students don't get into the room until right at the bell so having them sharpen pencils would really eat into my teaching
time. I find it easier just to keep a sharpened supply on hand.

I am on the second electrical sharpener for the year. Some brands of pencils behave better that others, but in general the sharpener works great the first few weeks then gets loud and does an awful job. I am planning on taking back my current electric pencil sharpener, it is an X-ACTO with a 2 year warranty.

Anyone with a similar problem? I need tips on pencils and pencil sharpeners. I know it seems like such a minor thing, but when you sharpen at least 70 pencils a day and have students who are very picky and want the perfect point it is a big deal. Any thoughts are welcome!
