I had a group like that last year and I did occasionally use group punishment and take away recess. I didn't do it often because I don't like to punish those who are innocent but sometimes there was no way to tell who was guilty. I never really found a way to keep them from talking though. They were just very verbal and had been that way since Kindergarten!

I am surprised you aren't in library with them. We are required to go to library with our students and assist the librarian with our class.
