grouping
By Ilvtching

Clip to ScrapBook
Do you:
1. Use Flexible grouping WITHIN your classroom? Yes! We have two first grades in our building and for literacy we have rotations (each child has 4 each day). They are ability grouped for reading and we adjust
as the kids need it! We have adjusted SEVERAL times this year! I love it!
2. Switch classrooms for instruction (ie. low/avg/high readers are placed in one classroom according to their ability for the reading/math block each day)?I guess this answer applies to number one also! Sorry

3. Pull off just the highest and/or lowest abilities for more individualized, small classrooms?
Our Reading Recovery person works with one small group of our HIGHEST readers two days per week. The other three she takes our lowest readers that are NOT getting reading recovery. This is besides her load of reading recovery students.

4. Another grouping approach? For next year, we are looking at doing some groupings for math (or maybe later this year if we have time to set it up). Not sure how that will look though!

If you want more info on any of this just send me a pm

Amy
