i use words from the third grade list that students should own. i preselect the words that i want on the wall. we read the word together, figure out how many syllables are in the word, clap out the syllables, clap and spell the word, and then clap out the sullables again. then i ask for a couple of students to tell me a sentence using the word and have them write it on a piece of sentence strip. the repetition is really helpful for the students. finally put the words up on the wall. i usually try to do two a day.
