I have always let the kids decide if the desk

is to big or not. If they look like they are having trouble fitting the desk, then it probably is not the correct height. I don't know if this would stop the wiggling and squirming. I am not that strict on how my children
sit. I can't as a 50+ sit through an hour tv show or a movie without moving several times. Think about it. The children have so much energy, to expect them not to wiggle is a very high expectation. A few years ago, I had a little girl who would put both legs on top of her desk while she did her work. A fellow teacher came in saw her working and asked if I allowed it. Yes, she was
quiet, she was getting her work done, she was meeting the goals of the lesson. Remember, we are not all auditory or visual learners. Some of us learn by moving, maybe it's your whole class this year, but try not to change who they are and how they learn.
