I try to avoid the major holidays. For example, in October we study spiders & read Charlotte's Web. Nothing is mentioned about Halloween. In December, I do a variety of things. I introduce and/or read stories about different holidays (Kwanza, Christmas, Hanukah, etc.) Some years when I have students who don't celebrate anything at all, I have had them leave the room when we are doing something they absolutely cant' do. It's hard. I'd like to see your newsletter when you're done!
