Yeah, you're dealing with an angry mom. Ever heard of active listening? LOL! It's a counseling technique that might help in this situation. You let the person talk, and you nod and reword what the person said so that
the person feels heard. Might help with this conference. Yikes! I feel for you. I would restate the AR policy, letting the mom know that it is based on her child's reading level, and incentives are given accordingly. Her child may be reading two grade levels below level, but the child can still get the incentives. All the child has to do is pass the tests. And, HOPEFULLY, the mom
will hear, "Ding, ding, ding. You mean I can read with my child, and she can still get the incentives, if she can pass the tests?" Yes, that's right. I've got a feeling this will work out, and this child will start passing the tests :).
