Teachers buying pencil sharpeners By Maestra

You know, I have been following this thread and another similar one and a thought has just occurred to me.

PEOPLE, WE ARE BUYING PENCIL SHARPENERS!!! Doesn't that seem ironic? Isn't a decent, working pencil sharpener a BASIC supply in an elementary or middle school classroom? What is wrong with this picture?

Last year my brother (a sweetie) purchased 2 boxes of copy paper for me because I asked him if he could recycle paper at work for me. (we use Accelerated Math). He just couldn't understand why I would have to beg, borrow or buy basic supplies for my classroom!

It is a sorry scenario for sure!
