grades
By Kim

Clip to ScrapBook
I use a points system to give letter grades. For example, if an assignment is worth 20 points and a student receives 19, I record 19 in my grade book. I do that for each assignment. At the end of the term, I add up the total number of points that were possible to receive. To figure a students grade for that term, I divide the total number of points they received for the term by the total number of points possible. (i.e. 195 points received out of 200 possible = 98%) I hope this makes sense. Our colleges really need to provide a class on how to figure grades and how to do report cards. This is very difficult for new teachers. I had never done report cards before and really had to rely on my co-workers to help me.
