    Story Retell Activities

    I am looking for some interesting new ways to creat or display story maps ad retells. We do one for every story in our basal. I am so tired of the same thing. I make cute patterns that coordinate with the story and put the story elements on it. They fill it in, color, cut , display. The kids like it, but blahhh.....
    So what do you do to review story elements and sequence of events.
    Here's one I can share:
    Take a square of paper. Draw an X corner to corner. Cut one leg of the x to the center. Put a beginning picture and sentence in one space, middle and end in the others (one will be empty). Then fold and staple to make a pyramid. We call it "Story Pyramid"
    Also, Story Quilts: Take a square with a basic quilt pattern and label each area with a story element: Write or draw in each to retell story. Display together as a quilt.
