4 Blocks scheduling

I am a new 2nd grade teacher and I use the 4 blocks. This is how my day goes.

8-8:20 Opening/Welcome
8:20-8:45 Morning Meeting
8:45-9:25 Guided Reading
9:25-9:55 Writing
9:55-10:05 Snack
10:10-10:50 Special
10:55-11:35
Math
11:42-12:30 Lunch and Recess
12:30-1:00 Self-Selected Reading
1-1:30 Working with Words
1:30-2:10 Science/Social Studies
2:20 Dismissal
I integrate science and social studies into guided reading sometimes b/c there just isn't enough time in the day. I do not use literacy centers. I use whole group instruction during guided reading - choral read, echo

read, shared read, independent, etc. The students also read independently during SSR and I have them write in their journal at this time as well. I hope this helps.
