    I think if you could supply the students with some visuals (piece of velvet, balloon, etc.) it would be more concrete for them, but I stil think they could make some connections. Always have high expectations--children will rise to them. If you supply the pattern with blanks for them to fill in and also supply them with a huge array of items that they could use to make a comparison, I think this could work. I don't know which way you plan to go with this lesson, but if you ask them to make more comparisons of items in the night, you could have things like glitter for stars, music for crickets, etc.
