Rewards

I am a first year teacher and I teach 2nd grade as well. I have been using a whole class reward system. If the class gets a "5" in a special or at lunch (something our school does) they get a "gem" (you can use anything - marbles, bingo chips, etc.) in the jar. Or, if they are all doing their work, following directions, working quietly etc. I put a gem in the jar. When the jar is filled I will let them watch a movie and eat popcorn or have an ice cream party, something to that affect. So far it has been working, but we have only been in school for a month.
