What kind of items?

Clip to ScrapBook
A young teacher at my school has the chairs with an X about 12 inches under the seat for structural support. Each child has a dishpan (like you get at the dollar store) and they keep materials in those for daily use.

Mailboxes/small cubbies work well for some things. Also, the cardboard magazine holders (look like 1/2 box standing on end) work well for folders, notebooks, etc. You can line them up on a shelf, but students can also tote their individual ones back to their seats to work.

I love the organizational stuff from Calloway House. They have excellent ideas, but I find that I can often reproduce them on my own with items from the dollar store or walmart.
