Hi Maria-
I am also the only second grade teacher in my building, and it is also my first year. Here is what I do: A math sheet goes home every night except for Fridays. On Mondays I type their spelling words on a list| that their parents can refer to when quizzing them, there is also a colored sheet for spelling(made on the computer, using excel; they have to write their spelling words 3x each and write three sentences on the lines provided, i did this because the colored sheet is easier to find the next morning when they pass it in). The rest of the week, i send home a sheet pertaining to what we | |
are learning about; language arts, science, social studies. Also, we keep journals in the classroom, but sometimes they don't get to finish working in them, so they bring them home. My kids also have a homework folder that they put all of these sheets in, so they can take it home and know where everything is. Hope that helps.
