I am not sure if this is the type of thing you are looking for, but right off the top of my head:
1. Before reading - Have students fold a sheet of drawing paper in half. One one side let them draw a picture (perhaps a park scene or something other type of scenery) using only one color. After reading - Have students draw the same scenery using many colors. Discuss how the picture changes and how it is better and ore interesting just as the book suggests.

would be great. Other than read aloud I am not sure how else you might do it. Could this book be made into a reader's theatre where several students played the role of the crayons?
