Math Activities

Sue, if you are in need of a worksheet to reinforce math facts here is a site to visit. I have used this site for second and first grades. There is a FREE download for the program Worksheet Factory Lite and you are in control
of the operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) and the number of problems you desire. The site is:

www.worksheetfactory.com

One other thought is this, Sue. When I taught second grade my class started a "not for profit company" called Border Orders. The children brainstormed the company name and then I typed up an information/sale sheet which "sales representative"

distributed to the staff members.

On the sheet the teachers listed the length and width of the bulletin board for which they were ordering a border. They checked if they wanted a fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas design border. I gave the kids lengths of sentence strips and plain white border strips. The children were divided into teams of four and they cooperatively designed the border orders!

We had so much fun with this activity which reinforced our measuring skills. I even used my Printmaster program to design business cards for our sales representatives to use when orders were placed and delivered.

I hope this helps a bit, have a great school year.
