    I love using personal narratives!

I write with my sixth graders all the time especially personal narratives. I share lots of interests I have with them...what I baked over the weekend, how I decorated my house after remodeling, the 12 lb. dictionary I bought for my hubby, visiting my daughter's classroom, what my ideal vacation would get the point. Never would I have to choose a very personal topic, show a private body part (yikes), or model a behavior that sends an incorrect message to children.
We impact children. We need to find some level of maturity, good judgement, morals, ethics, or whatever label we can muster up and remember we are the adults teaching children.
There is a fine line between sharing interests and revealing personal information best left for the company of adults.
