Our school has AR (I'm a Title I Reading teacher) so my classroom library (over 860 books) is leveled by AR. Kids can easily find a book at the level their classroom teacher has told them to read from.
I also have a collection of non-AR books, at kids' request, for when they have met their AR goals. Those books are not leveled, and it is up to the kids (as in real life) to figure out if they can read the book or not. Those books are organized by topic or genre. I don't have a count of those books, but nowhere near 800.
