Folders
By Jacqui

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Jackie, I use one 2-pocket folder that goes home each night. Inside is labeled Notes/Homework. The folder is returned each day with their homework and any notes from home. I also send home a large manilla 11x13 folder
on Fridays with their corrected weekly work and a quick checklist memo that describes their effort and behavior for the week. Parents sign the front of the manilla folder and return on Mondays. This helps you be certain that the parents are seeing their child's progress. Therefore, there are no surprises come report card time. I find this to be just enough responsibility for the students.
I also keep other folders in "class" for different things we are currently working on, but they do not go into the student's desk. I hold on to all corrected work until Fridays. Then during "free time" for those who earned it. The kids love to help pass out manilla folders and their weekly work to go home. I'm never short on volunteers and this also helps their reading and organizational skills.(There is a certain way to "place" papers neatly and in the same direction.) It works for me !
