folders and notebooks By RM

Hi Jackie Over the years I keep adding more and more folders and spiral notebooks because of the organization issue, misplaced papers, torn papers and scrunched up papers in desks. Some students do fine with organization| but the majority have difficulty. So when folders are on sale for 5 cents I buy tons, and when spiral notebooks go on sale for 12 cents I buy enough for the whole year.I also sometimes use laminated construction paper for a folder. I color code and label everything. Print shop has a post it note mode and it is the right size to label folders and notebooks. Like you I use a composition | | book for their writing draft book and a homework folder. I also have the following folders. It may seem excessive but it is so worth it. Everything is so compact and easily found. Plus it shows growth and is a good form of progress and assessment. Students do not store most of these in their desks, just a few. The rest I store in baskets on shelves. Hope this helps.2 pocket Folders Writing(I put two together to make a 4 pocket folder) Portfolio(same as above) 2 pocket with clasp folders Assessments Reading Log Math Daily Plans Poetry Science Social Studies Language Handwriting Reading Group Centers Workshop Way Spiral notebooks Spelling DOL Math Message Journal(this is in the writing center and different from their composition draft books) Literature response journals Science experimentation log
