spilt class = author's chair
By Wendy

Clip to ScrapBook
I did my reading & writing practicum in a 1/2 split class in college. I was amazed by the differences too.
One thing that I found/saw valuable was the "author's chair." Students wrote daily in their journals (sprial notebooks). There were 2-3 students chosen each day to share. It was very important for the class to see the different writings. First graders were doing a lot of pictures, and second graders were doing a lot of writing.....eventually the first graders were catching up to the second graders, etc. I'm sure the 2/3 split would be similar, just more writing involed (paragraphs, etc.)
Good luck!
Just an idea.
