My experience

Clip to ScrapBook
When I had to leave a position mid-year, it was very difficult. How old are your students? That does make a difference. I waited until the "last minute" so as not to create a fuss/dissention. We just sat down in class meeting
format, and talked about the fact that I was leaving. You don't have to disclose a lot of details, but allow them to answer some questions. I also sent a note home to the parents so that they would be aware. Has your replacement been hired? If you could "introduce" them to the new teacher, that may be helpful to allay their fears that will come from the unknown. Parents and children
will understand that you need to take care of yourself when they don't feel as if it's a reflection on them. By the way you spoke of them, I am sure they know that you love them! Feel better!
