Similar Situation Last Year By 3grteacher

Right before Christmas last year, I recieved a new student in my class. She was (im sure she still is!) Muslim. I had already had stockings made for my students with their names on them, and didn't want to leave her out. I sent a note home to Mom explaining the situation and asked her if I could still include her in the 'gift' but maybe get something different for her.

She was VERY appreciative that I even considered it and said that she was perfectly okay with her daughter receiving the stocking and thought it was very thougthful of me to consider asking her first.

I will never NOT contact a parent first. Most times they are very understanding.
