My experience...
By tammych

Clip to ScrapBook
I dealt with a similar situation last year, except the family was from India. I knew that they weren't Christian. I do Christmas around the world, focusing on American traditions and the country the originated from. (gingerbread
men from germany, christmas cards from england, we also include Kwanzaa and Hanukah...) I called the mom and explained my plans for the holidays, which included a tree. And asked if this was okay with her. I also invited her to share any winter traditions or customs.
Surprisingly, she said that they have Christmas trees in India. Huge color trees in every town square and
mall. They love them and son't consider them christian.
This mother also told me to never worry about them. They have chosen to live in this country and raise their children here. Santa will even visit their home on Christmas.
So my advice is, ask the parents how they feel about it and respect their wishes. If they are offended by the tree or the Happy Holidays message, you shouldn't do it for any of the children.
Good Luck, let us know how it ends.
