The Giver...as a read aloud?
By TeacherCarrie

Clip to ScrapBook
I plan on reading The Giver to my 4th grade class. It's a just for fun read aloud that I read after lunch.

I do plan on doing a few things with it just b/c of the incredible lesson it teaches though.

What do you think, is it something that 4th graders could handle? I know it's written for older students to read. But with me reading it and guiding them through some of the lessons...some events I will pass over...do you recommend against me reading it to them, since it may be too over their heads?

I teach in a low income high level of ELL students area.
