Clip to ScrapBook
Do you use the book in question mostly sequentially? If so, you could make a tagboard bookmark about 2 inches longer than the book. You could then teach the child how to open the book at the bookmark and go forward to find the next page needed.

I teach third, and we have these for our reading and math books. I put their names on the top of the bookmarks so they are always sticking out and we can hand out books quickly and easily. I can't tell you how many minutes this saves daily!
