I would tell her that because of the number of parents wishing to volunteer that she would be fit into the schedule at such and such time on whatever day you decide. I would also limit what she was to do in the room. I wouldn't| let her work with her own daughter though. She already does that at home anyway. But if you can somehow tell her thankyou for her interest in volunteering that you need some parents to help outside the classroom as well. Maybe you could tell her part of the year she could come in (if she backs off). You're lucky if you have a choice, we don't. Parents are allowed to visit at any time. | | One day at the beginning of the year I had three parents at once and someone from the district came by to observe a student and follow up from last year. That is so distracting for them and me as well. Too many volunteers (mine were there to just watch and some tried to do their child's work for them) are really not that much help. It seems to end up being more work to make sure they all know what, how and when to do it. Then you get no-shows and/or late volunteers who want to use up all your lunch/prep time. Your parent sounds like she's 'investigating' rather than wanting to help. I would have her out of the room helping or not there at all.
