I received an interesting email....

about volunteering. I'm not quite sure how to respond and how to do it nicely so I would appreciate your help! To sum it up, I am interested in parent volunteers and asked in my newsletter for those interested to please
contact me for more information about this.

Today, I received an email from a parent who has sort of (in that nice but whiny kind of way) been on my case about some things - ranging from her daughter's behavior to math skills, etc. She is a nice lady but has no control over her kid and tends to question a lot of what I do.

Ok back to the point - here is a paraphrase
of her email

"I was looking at "Tori's" report card and im a little confused about the reading level. It seems like she has not improved. I dont know how she does for you guys at school but she does great at home. She reads great for us at home. I just feel like she is holding back at school maybe ? please contact me. I am going to start volunteering on either wednesdays or fridays and maybe that will help me see whats going on. let me know what day you need me the most please. It will be from 9:15 til 11:30."

I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm glad she is concerned about her daughter, but first of all we have gone over this stuff in conferences, and secondly, why is she wanting to come in an "volunteer" but then watch to see what is really going on? That's not volunteering!
I feel like she just wants to hang around and it bothers me.
Not to mention the fact that her child is not well behaved and walks all over her (and tries to walk all over me).
And I just don't like it that this mom just told me when she'll be coming without asking me what time would work for me? All my other parents interested in volunteering have actually asked me what time would work and have not said they wanted to watch their child. This is just rubbing me the wrong way and I want to nip it before it turns into a bad situation!

What to do....what to do. Advice?

Thanks!
