I am in the same position. Last year I used an idea I got from ProTeacher. I had some stationery made with each child's name and gave it to them with a pen, pencil, and sticky notes.

To make the stationery, I just printed one sheet, and I took the sheets to Office Depot, and they made copies and put them into notepads. The kids loved it!
