Persuasive Reading
By Kristen_6th

Clip to ScrapBook
What things do you use for Persuasive Reading? How do you go about teaching:
* Author's Purpose (to persuade)
* fact/opinion
* Finiding facts (in the text) that support/disagree with an opinion
* Bias
* Loaded Words
* Stereotypes
* Assumptions

This is for 5th and 6th graders. It seems some students aren't developmentally ready for some of this but we are still expected to teach it.

Any good resources? Places you look for persuasive texts? The only thing I have used is Letters to the Editor and a lot of them seem to be a little too mature/ political for my kids.
