great advice from a principal once
By lil annie

Clip to ScrapBook
The first year I taught, many of our teachers were complaining about the amount of work we were hauling home with us and our principal gave some advice that has served me well my entire career. "Just because you make a kid
do a paper, doesn't mean you have to grade it. There is a special file for papers you aren't taking a grade on." and he held up a trash can. He would also periodically place a Hershey's kiss in every box as a reminder to "Keep It Simple".

When I get bogged down or behind on grading, I pull just the sets of papers that would make a good item for a grade and pitch the rest. And
I don't feel guilty about it, just relieved. I have to make sure I do this at home and not at school because it is hard to explain to your class why their papers were in the trash. :p
