Thinking Maps are similar to graphic organizers (although Thinking Map reps would not like the two to be compared!) They are structured "maps" that follow different thought processes.

There are (each one followed by its thought process):

Brace Map - parts to a whole
Bubble Map - describing
Circle Map - defining within a context
Double Bubble Map - compare and contrast
Bridge Map - analogies
Tree map - classificiation/identifying characteristics
Flow Map - Sequencing

I just attended several small workshops on how to use thinking maps when answering state standardized test short response questions.
