I am also beginning the new school with a sea theme. I am putting each of my student's names on little fish that I will display on a BB titled "Welcome Back to School". I also have a large whale I drew on blue poster board
and cut out that I am going to put up that will say "We're going to have a whale of a fun in 2nd Grade". I am going to cut out bubbles with 1....100 on them, and each day when we do calendar, we will add a bubble--that will be our 100 days of school thingy. We are going to read "The Rainbow Fish" and talk about making new friends. We are going to paint paper bags with watercolors,

put a silver sticker and make them in to "rainbow fish". I am planning to hang them from the ceiling. I am also going to put up little individual behavior charts and everytime the students are "caught" being good, they will get to put a fish sticker on them. When the charts get filled up, there will be a treat. Check out the seaworld website. They have some teacher's guides if you want to expand on the theme. I have some more ideas if you are interested. (Ignore the errors...I'm in a hurry.)
