I have no experience in this area ;) , but instead of messing with a costume and a crystal ball for a person, could you make a booth with curtains, but when the person gets in they ask a question (like the kind you'd ask from a magic 8 ball) and then a person behind a screen or board slips an answer (that's vague, like a magic 8 ball) through a slot. Just a thought-- have fun!
